In the wake of last Friday’s Sandy Hook Elementary School shootings in Newtown, Connecticut, there has been shock, horror, and sadness expressed by people all over our nation. We mourn because we recognize the value of the lives lost. The victims deserve our nation’s attention, and as we hear their stories and see their pictures, our hearts break as we think of the birthdays, holidays, and other life events stolen from them.
But what about the children in our nation who were aborted on Friday? Instead of being murdered by a deranged gunman, they were legally killed by their own parents who were charged with protecting them.
In the name of reproductive rights, those children will not have one birthday.
In the name of convenience, those children will never have a first day of school.
In the name of denial, those children remain unmourned and forgotten by a nation full of people who give their approval to the practice of abortion.
The aborted deserve to be mourned.
Our nation cannot truly claim to value life and ignore the deaths of children from abortion every day. Their lives are as valuable as those lost at Sandy Hook Elementary School. Let us pray and fight for an end to abortion, so our nation can take its first step toward restoring a culture of life.
